The glass production in Steinschoenau
The history of Bohemian
glass-making has begun very early.
Glassworks in the Bohemia Forest, in the
Giant Mountains areas and glassworks around the city of Turnov and elsewhere in
Northern Bohemia produced glass as early as the 14th century.
Steinschoenau
gradually became an important centre of glass-making. Glass-making workshops
flourished here and the city became “the capital of the chandelier-makers
world”.
Apart from
chandeliers also drinking vessels, goblets, boxes and
other
items were manufactured in the Steinschoenau area (including Parchen and
Schelten).
