Second Family name ("Beiname")
There were in Steinschönau many families having name
either ‘Pallme’ or ‘Palme’: all these families were members of the
Pallme Family.
For this reason, they used to have a second family-name (König, Mühl, Gott,
Mahl, Tausch, etc.) as distinction (Clan). But in the documents, it was
not always added to ‘Pallme’ as Family name. /2/
Also my family had a second family-name: it was ‘Tausch’
(Bartel/Trade). /2/
It seems that it origins from Matteus (Mattausch in the local dialect), the name
of one of my ancestors who lived earlier than the 17th century.
Among the different clans, it seems that only the Pallme-König clan has officially united the addition-name (Beiname) to the surname as new Family name in order to differentiate from all the other Pallme.
For other clans it remained only an addition-name. /2/, /6/
